“Pitti Immagine” is an Italian company that operates at the highest international levels in the promotion of industry and fashion design.
It organizes some of the most important trade fairs in the world, like PITTI UOMO. Its origin dates back to the early fifties with the first fashion shows organized in Florence in the “Sala Bianca” of Palazzo Pitti.
From this fashion show began the worldwide success of Made in Italy and the history of “Pitti Immagine”. The location of Pitti Immagine is the Fortezza da Basso, a huge military construction of the Renaissance period.
THE THEME OF PITTI UOMO 84
MOTORCYCLES – VROOM, VROOM. “The feeling of freedom and fun it is to ride and drive motorcycles”, Pitti Uomo 84 showed clothes and accessories that are part of the biking world, at Pitti you heard the roar of the bikes and the fashion world.
MAN FASHION TREND
The new trends for spring / summer 2014 that we perceived at Pitti are warm colors and fringes combined with colorful dresses and prints, exotic and mediterranean looks, urban cowboys, technical and ultra-light fabrics, boys whit make up, large flower prints and casual and sporty looks. But as we know at Pitti more than everything else capture your attention the “phenomenas” who are there only to be photographed and to show off, but not for their sense of style, for their non sense of style. One of Pitti’s certainty is to see people that despite the 40 °C was all dressed and often worn loafers with no socks. Pretty insane.
TOP 3 AT PITTI UOMO 84
The selection is made by our eyes, eyes of travelers, eyes of people who are always ready to discover new places. And we can say that this year the fashion trends embrace our philosophy of travelers.
3. APPAREL “DATE*HUB”
In 2006 born the sneakers brand DATE (the acronym of the founders’ names). In 2012 started a new project: DATE*HUB, more than an on-line magazine, a virtual meeting place for artists, cool hunters, designers, photographers and graphics. In 2013 DATE launched Apparel “DATE*HUB”, a clothing collection connected to the magazine. The main theme of the collection is the journey through photographic prints. The collection is characterized by floral bouquets and rainforest textures mixed with landscape and pop and optical influences. With Pitti Uomo 84 Date presented also a T-shirts collection with exclusive prints created by artists that collaborated with the magazine.
2. ADIDAS BY TOM DIXON
Tom Dixon collection, “THE CAPSULE”, blends the recovery technique and a continuous research and experimentation. The result is an avant-guard, innovative, fascinating and topical then ever sportswear. He proposes new typologies of bags and apparel. The collection comprises two travel bags typologies, hard and the soft, an experiment in capsule thought for travelers. Parkas that become sleeping bags, sweatshirts that can be folded into small travel bags and a spectacular five-in-one that encompasses coat, jacket, pants, skirt and shorts. The purpose of the collection? Spend a week away from home carrying only a suitcase and clothes in it as a sort of survival kit. The design is inspired by his own experiences and tribulations in international travel. Exactly, the concept has been thought when he was in Iceland in 2010 and the volcano Eyjafjallajökull erupted blocking flights from all over Europe. He created a contemporary collection.
1. Y-3 // YOHJI YAMAMOTO
The brand born in 2001 by the visionary partnership between Yohji Yamamoto and (yet again) Adidas sportswear, for the first time presents his spring-summer collection at PITTI UOMO 84. The collection consists of a series of deconstructed garments with a futuristic allure as the designer plays with volumes and shapes. The collection is contemporary, practical and fashion at the same time. It is more than a sportwear collection with clothes made by sport fabrics but that can be perfect for every occasion. The collection of the traveler designer (In 1989, the director Wim Wenders realized a documentary of the life and profession of Yamamoto, entitled “Notes on fashion and travel”) is characterized by irregular cuts and large gashes. He offerd an urban and cosmopolite style with a chic touch.
As always we loved to travel and discover the news of the fashion world.
