St. Petersburg hosts amazing artists. Russia rocks.
Minimal cuts and geometrical shapes, combined in a shooting showing a couple of grey figures desaturated in their androgyny expressions and static poses, highlighting the colors of the fabrics and the related make up by Anna Ilver. Something that can get stuck in your eyes and, for sure, inside of your mind. Everything in these pictures is studied in detail, nothing is out of control. The lights are perfectly depicting a scene that is nearly aseptic, emphasizing the perfection of the styling by Xenia Dremina and the wicked details appearing here and there, such as beauty spots or swollen veins. A great team work you can judge, and love, at first sight:
Something more about the artists, emerging from a quick chat with Oxana.
Anastasya Kizilova creates clothing that combines a variety of quality. Based on the ideas of avant-garde, she developed simple things easy to use. She sought to create a costume that can be used in different situations, the main condition for clothes and not constrain movement. Somewhere costume elements appear in contrast through monochrome color, somewhere dissolve in silhouette.
Oxana Rey gives importance to simplicity and conciseness and, on the other hand – details. Her other favorite topic is geometry. This shooting was based exactly on these elements: Unusual cut and geometric forms for a minimal shooting. As a rule, all ideas came spontaneously: Oxana’s got many friends who are makeup artists or stylists and they easily can sit in a cafe and talk about something and then someone comes up with an idea of shooting. At that stage, they start looking for models and designers to share their idea and create something together. In St. Petersburg it’s quite difficult to find a real paid job, but it is very easy to find people who can work with you ‘for the idea’. This shooting wasn’t exception.
