“Golden Sadness” is a 35 mm film project by Italian Ilenia Urso.
The shooting is set in a really evocative location represented by a monumental palace (built in XVI century) in Muro Leccese (Apulia), Italy.
The girl in the photos is unbelievable model Luxie Lisbon. And Ilenia Urso really knew how to paint her with light this time.
We asked the artist to tell us something more about this stunning project made of dreamlike warm pictures, here’s how “Golden Sadness” happened:
We didn’t have any idea of what we were going to do, nothing was planned, we only had the chance to access to this suggestive location and, once in, each room, window, detail and the beautiful light suggested us this story; all in the palace seemed to remind old but living feelings, imagination run so fast and each photo born spontaneously, from the melt of our sensations.
I’m not a photographer, I think I’m only in love with photographs. I have a weakness for bodies, the female ones, and the way all the lines run into each other. Analogue is my way of seeing reality and probably the only way to approach photography, I feel it’s the most true way to express myself.
If “sex appeal” had a visual definition, that would be this “Golden Sadness” series by Ilenia Urso, we are sure about that.
